Wednesday, March 21, 2007

Are you a small-business owner who wants to manage your financial accounts with greater confidence? Do you have some basic knowledge of computer accounting packages and want to learn more about the features of QuickBooks, a widely used accounting software? Are you an entrepreneur with energy and ideas but no accounting experience? Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro has noncredit courses that can help.

An Introduction to QuickBooks will be offered at the North Campus on Tuesdays, April 24 and May 1. QuickBooks is the No. 1 accounting software for individuals and businesses with little bookkeeping knowledge. Advanced QuickBooks will follow on Thursdays, May 3 and May 10. All classes will be held in the North Campus computer lab from 6 to 9 p.m.

Participants in the classes will learn how to create and track accounts, generate invoices, and process payments. In the advanced class, participants learn to create reports, maximize the efficiency of forms, use business services, improve handling of sales taxes, explore job estimating, and learn tips and tricks for more flexible navigation within QuickBooks Pro.

The classes, offered by Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Penn College, have limited enrollment, so register early to reserve a seat. The cost for each course is $99.

For those who want to understand the basics, Accounting for the Non-Accountant will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, in the North Campus computer lab. The course is taught by an industry expert and will be helpful for anyone who has a new business or is thinking of starting one. Cost for the daylong seminar is $99, including all program materials.
