Monday, March 5, 2007
The Ninth Annual Extrusion Seminar and Hands-On Workshop featuring extrusion expert Chris Rauwendaal, of Rauwendaal Extrusion Engineering Inc., Auburn, Calif., and extrusion instructor Kirk M. Cantor, professor of plastics and polymer technology at Pennsylvania College of Technology will be held July 31 to Aug. 2 at Penn College.
In 2006, 11 companies from eight states participated in the seminar and workshop.
For the 2007 event, Rauwendaal will present course topics in a multimedia format supplemented by printed materials.
Cantor will lead participants in hands-on training (50 percent of the course), including the use of extrusion-industry equipment.
Testimonials from the 2006 workshop/seminar include:
"A wealth of material covered, combined with (a) practical, hands-on approach. I would recommend to any engineer/technician working in extrusion." Richard Bohn, Arrow International Inc., Reading
"All the in-depth information on the internal works of an extruder, the material flow and screw design give you a better understanding of the processes' shortcomings. Extremely knowledgeable professors. The hands-on lab helps to tie the information together in a practical application. It was great to get the exposure to all types of plastic processing equipment. Thanks." James Rosenthal, Crafted Plastics Inc., Sheboygan, Wis.
"This is a very informative seminar with great, experienced instructors. Just within three days, I feel that I am better equipped to handle my job." Vicky Patel, Polyfil Corp., Rockaway, N.J.
Anyone involved in the extrusion of plastics can benefit from the seminar/workshop. The cost is $1,050 for the three days ($975 if you register by July 1) and includes course registration, handout material, morning refreshments and lunch for all three days.
