ITS Updates Campus Community on Novell-to-Microsoft Conversion Plans
Tuesday, November 14, 2006
Last May, Information Technology Services outlined plans to convert the campus IT infrastructure from Novell to Microsoft. The six months of preparation work described in that communicationare just about complete.
ITS will release a number of announcements over the next several weeks providing additional details on the planned holiday-break cutover to the new Microsoft servers for employee network drives (H:, G:, P:, R: and S:) and the switch from GroupWise to Outlook for e-mail.
Employees are asked to carefully review these announcements, as they will contain very important information about the conversion schedules and temporary interruptions in services.
As in the May communication, ITS reminds the campus community that the premise behind this conversion is similar to the Market Street Bridge project: short-term inconvenience for long-term improvement. ITS asks the college community for patience during this important update to our campus information-technology infrastructure.
