Information Technology Services has issuedthese announcements and reminders for November:
Dates to Remember AS/400 Routine Maintenance Nov. 12, from 7-9:30 a.m. All AS/400 screens and services, including the Employee Information System and Student Information System, will be unavailable.
Rollout of New Spam-Filtering System Monday, Nov. 6. (See PCToday article for more information.)
Housekeeping Reminders Faculty, don't wait until the day grades are due to make sure you can log in to the AS/400. Remember that AS/400 passwords expire every 180 days. Is it possible that yours has expired since the last time you logged in? If your password hasn't expired, but you suspect it will in the near future, take the time to change it today . For information on changing your network and GroupWise passwords, visitthe Employee Account FAQs Web page .
Faculty also are reminded that requests for software to be installed in computer labs for the next semester should be made by Nov. 15. Requests made after this date cannot be guaranteed in time for the start of Spring 2007 classes. Direct requests to the appropriate lab manager:
- Susan Deuel: Schools of Constructionand Design Technologies, Industrialand Engineering Technologies, and Transportation Technology
- Connie Vitolins: Schools of Health Sciences, Natural Resources Management, Integrated Studies, and Hospitality
- Gallahad Mallery: School of Business and Computer Technologies
Safeguarding Important Files To ensure that Help Desk staff are available to help as many employees as possible per day,ITS follows a "limited troubleshooting" rule. In most cases, if a problem cannot be resolved within a reasonable amount of time,the computer will be reimaged the contents of the hard drive erased and all software reinstalled.
