Wednesday, October 25, 2006

Remembrance Garden offers area of respite outside Carl Building Technologies Center. The Remembrance Garden, at the east side of the Carl Building Technologies Center, has been completed by students from Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Construction and Design Technologies and will officially open Sunday.

The area was designed by architecture technology students and constructed by students in all of the concrete classes. Those classes instructed by Daniel L. Force, Harry W. Hintz, Clifford J. Jones, Richard R. Motter and Franklin H. Reber combined students from building construction technology, masonry and construction carpentry. The college's horticulture and grounds staff landscaped the area.

The garden has a memorial bench, two tables and seats to be used by the college community as an area of respite, reflection and remembrance. Memorial bricks will be placed in the Remembrance Garden to honor colleagues and students who have died while employed or attending Penn College.

"We are pleased to add this special space to our campus and hope you can take time to visit over the coming months," college President Davie Jane Gilmour said. "Thank you to all who made the garden a reality."
