"From Idea to Reality: Developing a Global Product at Penn College" is the title of aLibrary Forum presentation to be offered Oct. 26 at the Roger and Peggy Madigan Library at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
The program, which is free and open to the public, will be presented from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in Room 200 (note location change) by C. Hank White, director of the Plastics Manufacturing Center at Penn College. Light refreshments will be served.
The event also is being offered as a professional-development opportunity for faculty − PDT 122-01 − who can register for the course online .
White was instrumental in the development of Nylene 494, a variant of nylon suitable for rotational molding. Penn College developed the material in partnership with Custom Resins, a Henderson, Ky., resin manufacturer. It marks the first time the PMC has developed a material that is being marketed worldwide.
In the presentation, White will discuss the impact of the new material and the circumstances that led to its development and commercial marketing.
