Thursday, October 5, 2006
Terry A. Girdon, professor of business administration at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was named chairman of the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education's Board of Commissioners during a recent conference in Paris.
Girdon, who heads the business administration department in the college's School of Business and Computer Technologies, was selected during the IACBE's annual conference from Sept. 21-23.
The board is the body responsible for setting accreditation expectations and reviewing the self-study and site-visit reports for purposes of granting accreditation. Following the conference, Girdon remained in Paris to conduct follow-up accreditation site visits to the American Business School and the Paris Graduate School of Management.
The IACBE is one of only three business-degree accrediting bodies for colleges and universities in the United States and throughout the world. It has 227 member institutions and is the fastest-growing business-accrediting body in the world, with branch locations in Geneva, Switzerland; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Mangilao, Guam.
All of Penn College's business and accounting degree programs have been fully accredited by IACBE since 1998.
