Children's Learning Center Part of Record-Setting Attempt
Thursday, August 24, 2006
Penn College's Children's Learning Center took part in Thursday's "Jumpstart Read for the Record" initiative, which attempts to set a world record for the largest shared literacy experience. Children in the "Bear Bunch," "Bunnies," "Bird's Nest" and "Busy Bees" groups all listened to "The Little Engine That Could," chanting along with their engaging adult readers in the timeless message of "I think I can, I think I can." The program officially kicked off with Matt Lauer on "The Today Show" and included a number of nationwide events in libraries, schools ... and child-care centers like that on the first floor of the college's Bush Campus Center.
