Pennsylvania College of Technology's computer aided drafting technology major was recently recertified by the American Design Drafting Association.
ADDA, an organization for designers, drafters, architects, illustrators and technical artists, provides curriculum certification to recognize schools whose curriculum in design/drafting meets the standards established and approved by ADDA.
"It is an important credential for our department," said Katherine A. Walker, assistant professor of drafting and computer aided design. "The requirements of ADDA are very detailed. Curriculum, faculty background, employment placement of graduates and classroom capabilities are a few of the many elements ADDA reviews in the certification process. Our department can take pride in this continued accomplishment."
Schools are certified for one-year periods. Penn College has earned certification for its computer aided drafting technology associate-degree major every year since 1997.
A letter from ADDA noted: "It is programs such as yours that assure competent design and drafting professionals for the future. The association's certification program and the commitment to excellence it represents provide a quality-assurance program, which benefits both education and industry."
In addition to an associate degree in computer aided drafting technology, Penn College also offers a bachelor's degree in computer aided product design.
Established in 1948, ADDA is the oldest design-drafting association in the world. It is recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Education, as well as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
