Two regional Caterpillar dealers have been honored by Pennsylvania College of Technology for their decade of commitment to students and faculty in the School of Natural Resources Management.
During a recent quarterly meeting of dealers at the college's Schneebeli Earth Science Center near Allenwood, Wayne R. Longbrake, dean of natural resources management, presented representatives of Alban CAT and Ransome CAT with plaques honoring "10 years of participation in the Caterpillar Excellence Fund Grant to provide student sponsorships, instructional materials, technical equipment, curriculum development and faculty development funds in support of the Diesel Equipment Technology programs."
The dealers are among five that annually have joined with the Caterpillar Foundation in contributions to the Excellence Fund, which offers a variety of assistance to students and faculty in the diesel technology, heavy construction equipment technology and electric power generation technology majors.
The objective of the Caterpillar Excellence Fund is to increase the pool of qualified service technicians by recruiting and retaining students through scholarship assistance. Contributions also help fund equipment purchases for the three majors and enable faculty members to receive the latest Caterpillar-sponsored training.
Since the fund's beginnings in 1994, its partners have contributed a total of $1,175,000 to Penn College; the next round of grants will be announced during the Fall 2006 semester.
Accepting on behalf of their respective employers were Karl Quinn, training manager and instructor for Alban Tractor Co. Inc., Baltimore, and Ronald Garber, service administration manager for Ransome CAT, Bensalem.
Other dealer partners in the Caterpillar Excellence Fund are Beckwith Machinery Inc., Murrysville; Cleveland Brothers Equipment Co. Inc., Harrisburg; and H.O. Penn Machinery Co. Inc., Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
