A faculty member in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Business and Computer Technologies presented a paper at the Eastern Academy of Management Conference, held earlier this month in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Irwin H. Siegel, professor of business administration/business law and recipient of Penn College's 2005 Master Teacher Award, presented "Application and Limitations of Organizational Memory: A Case Study of Carly Fiorina and the 'H-P Way'" during the May 10-13 conference.
The theme of this year's event was "Management Scholarship, Teaching and Learning in the 21st Century."
Siegel's paper focused on how Fiorina, Hewlett-Packard Co.'s first chief executive officer selected from outside the company, made use of "organizational memory" in shaping perceptions of the "H-P Way" the business' guiding principles when Hewlett-Packard announced its controversial acquisition of Compaq in 2002.
