Pennsylvania College of Technology has been awarded accreditation of its accounting and business administration majors by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs' Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners.
"We are delighted to have secured accreditation of our accounting and business programs by the ACBSP. It reflects the high standard of quality of our programs and our faculty, and creates the impetus for continuous program and course development to best serve our students' and employers' needs," said Edward A. Henninger, dean of business and computer technologies.
A certificate of accreditation will be presented during the association's annual conference in Chicago on June 18.
"The Penn College accounting and business programs are among the very few in the United States that have achieved dual accreditation by the ACBSP and the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education," Henninger added. "We believe that they afford an excellent opportunity for students seeking to major in a business-related field."
For those that achieve accreditation for their business schools and programs, this certifies that the teaching-and-learning processes within those institutions meet rigorous educational standards established by the ACBSP. The organization's ratification of accreditation partially based on a site visit conducted in January covers a 10-year period, during which the college must continually reaffirm its quality through periodic reports.
"Penn College has shown its commitment to teaching excellence by participating in the accreditation process, achieving accreditation and then continuing the process of quality improvement," said Douglas G. Viehland, executive director of the ACBSP. "This accreditation is evidence of the college's commitment to quality business programs."
The association's mission is to establish, promote and recognize educational practices that contribute to the continuous quality improvement of business-education programs, teaching of business courses, and student-learning outcomes in colleges and universities throughout the United States and abroad. ACBSP was established in 1988 and is the only business accrediting organization for both two- and four-year institutions.
