Forestry Student Awarded Scholarship for Academic Achievement
Thursday, May 4, 2006
A forest technology student in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Natural Resources Management recently was awarded a scholarship by the Council of Eastern Forest Technician Schools for his exceptional 4.0 grade-point average.
David A. Cole, of Berwick, was among the recipients chosen from CEFTS members, which include all schools with forest technology programs in the eastern United States and Canada. He was one of two students selected for the scholarship; the other is enrolled at Haywood Community College in Clyde, N.C.
The organization recognizes scholastic high achievers through its North American Forest Technician Honorary, which rewards students who have a minimum 3.3 GPA in their major classes and a 3.0 overall average.
Dennis F. Ringling, a forestry professor at the college's Schneebeli Earth Science Center, is the immediate past chairman of CEFTS and hosted the group's 2005 annual conference. More information about the organization is available online .
