Matthew P. Branca, director of The College Store at Pennsylvania College of Technology, presented a workshop on teamwork development at the annual Super Regional Meeting and Buying Show, held April 2-5 at the Foxwoods Resort in Ledyard, Conn.
The workshop, "Teamwork Makes Big Money," focused not only on how a strongly developed team results in overall improved operations, but how a store's financial performance can be improved, as well.
The show is a regional industry conference attended by more than 300 college-bookstore personnel and 350 vendors from the College Stores Association of New England, the College Stores Association of New York State and the Middle Atlantic College Store Association. Branca ended his three-year tenure as treasurer for this conference.
In addition, he co-chaired the group's annual benefit auction, which raised more than $9,500 to benefit the "Produce a Cure" fund at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York City.
Branca joined Penn College in 1999, has been in the college-store industry since 1990 and contributes to industry publications and newsletters.
In early 2005, Branca earned the industry designation of "Certified Collegiate Retailer," a distinction held by fewer than 10 percent of industry professionals. He serves on the National Association of College Stores' Course Materials Committee.
He lives in Jersey Shore with his wife, Jennifer, and sons Spencer and Jordan.
