'Showcase' Held for Business-and-Computer Advisory Committees
Tuesday, April 11, 2006
The School of Business and Computer Technologies held its annual Showcase and Advisory Committee Meeting in the PDC on Monday, tackling the "brain drain" in Central Pennsylvania. Jim Shillenn, chief executive officer of the Industrial Modernization Center, in center photo, presented a recent study on retaining and attracting young adults to central Pennsylvania. His talk was followed by a panel discussion of the issue by current Penn College students, as well as representatives of local business and industry. Students in Patricia Coulter's Multimedia Fundamentals class (who will make a similar presentation to the Williamsport-Lycoming Chamber of Commerce later this month before presenting their final projects in Penn's Inn on May 2) displayed their work on behalf of local nonprofit organizations. The project, funded by a grant from SEDA-Council of Governments, involves such entities as the Sones Farm Museum in Muncy, left; Preservation Williamsport, the SPCA and the Little League Challenger Division, right.
