Men's VolleyballCompeting in the Terrapin Invitational at College Park, Md., the Wildcats went 4-3 and finished third, but more important gained valuable experience.
"Every time we step onto the court from now on, we will improve greatly. I preach to them at every practice and every match that we've got to get stronger and that the competition is going to get stronger. I don't think they saw and figured out what I was talking about until this weekend. When they walked in and saw that we were going to play Duke and Maryland and Virginia, Messiah... they (realized) they were where I told them we would be in a couple of years.... They really stepped it up and played good against these D-I schools," said Penn College coach Wes Strayer of Saturday's play.
"Sunday morning (against Ohio Northern), that was another story. They just came out flat. Ohio Northern was not a better team, we just did not play up to my expectations,"he said. "Overall, it was a great learning experience."
