Chak is an assistant professor of graphic design in the Art Department at The College of New Jersey. Previously, he was an assistant professor in the Visual Arts Department at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
He earned a master of fine arts degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a bachelor of fine arts degree from the State University of New York at New Paltz and a diploma in foundation design from Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
After teaching graphic design for many years, Chak rekindled his passion for photography in 2003, starting three projects: "Misplacement," "Way Out" and "The Boxes."
"The Misplacement series started in the fall of 2003," Chak said. "It played off the relationship between consciousness and randomness, stage and documentary photography, scale, analog and digital technology."
