Math Professor Presents at International Workshop, Conference

William Ma, associate professor of mathematics at Pennsylvania College of Technology, made presentations recently at an international workshop and conference, both held in India.
Ma attended the "International Workshop on Quasi-conformal Mappings and Their Applications," held in Chennai, India, from Dec. 27 to Jan. 1. There, he gave an invited presentation, "Euclidean, Spherical and Hyperbolic Properties of Hyperbolic Polar Coordinates," on Dec. 30.
He also attended an "International Conference on Geometric Function Theory, Special Functions and Applications," held in Pondicherry, India, from Jan. 2-5. He presented an invited talk titled "Convexity Properties of Metric Density" on Jan. 2. He was also chairman of Session III on Jan. 4.
The workshop and the conference were supported in part by the National Science Foundation.
In addition to the India conferences, Ma attended the Annual Joint Meeting of the American Mathematical Society and the Mathematical Association of America in San Antonio from Jan. 12-15.
Ma received a doctorate in mathematics from the University of Cincinnati. His research focuses on complex analysis. Overall, he has published 43 research papers and given 20 invited presentations at international and national conferences.
