Power-Outage Guidelines Available on Emergency Response Web Site
Monday, November 21, 2005
Guidelines to follow when power outages affect Penn College are available on the college's Emergency Response Web site. Sudden power outages in buildings or facilities are usually brief and affect only small areas, but prolonged or widespread outages can have a significant impact on college operations. Computers and heating-and-ventilation systems are especially vulnerable. A prompt resolution of this kind of emergency requires collaboration between college emergency responders, utilities personnel and affected parties. The guidelines instruct college personnel what to do when such outages (lasting five minutes or longer) take place. To view the guidelines, and to learn how to prepare for a power emergency, visit the site. The next set of guidelines will deal with fire prevention.
