'Cat TalesMen's Basketball Matt Melusky (Minersville) scored 18 points and pulled down eight rebounds in a win over Penn State Wilkes-Barre. Adam Walker (Williamsport) added 14 points for the Wildcats while Tony Flint (Port Allegany) and Tom Little (Woodland, Conn.) each scored 10.
In the first round of the Juniata Tournament, Penn College fell to Pitt-Greensburg despite a 15-point effort by Tony Flint, 11 points from Adam Walker and 10 from Matt Michaels (Williamsport). On Saturday, in the tourney consolation game against Lancaster Bible, Melusky scored 20 points and Preston Peterson (Williamsport) added 19 points and 11 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to keep the Wildcats from falling by one point in three overtime periods. Tony Flint and Nick Reynolds (Athens) each added 12 points for Penn College and Greg Flint (Port Allegany) chipped in with 11.
Women's BasketballKatlyn Stupar (State College) scored 17 points and Brittany Blessard (Renovo) added 15 as the Lady Wildcats won their Penn State University-Athletic Conference opener against Penn State Mont Alto. Stupar also grabbed seven rebounds.
