Instructional Technology Director Earns Doctoral Degree

The director of instructional technology and distance learning at Pennsylvania College of Technology recently earned her doctoral degree.

Jennifer McLean completed her Ph.D. in education at the Minnesota-based Capella University with a specialization in teaching and learning. The title of her dissertation is "Forgotten Faculty: Stress and Job Satisfaction Among Distance Educators," which focuses on the affective needs of higher educators teaching entirely at a distance.

McLean, who was raised in the Chicago suburbs, earned bachelor's degrees in English and biology from Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill., and a master's degree in public health from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

A former assistant professor of health education, McLean also developed multimedia and Web-supplemented instructor ancillaries and student study aids for academic publishers, worked as an editor and content expert, and taught distance-learning courses for two institutions.
