Megan L. Kime, a graphic communications management student at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was awarded first place recently for her production of a flexographically printed pressure-sensitive label.
Kime, Gardners, is a junior in the bachelor-degree major. The award was presented by the Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute, a trade association representing the flexographic printing field in North America.
Kime's entry was judged for its creative design and technical skill in production. Flexography is the fastest-growing printing process and has applications in packaging and pressure-sensitive labels.
Penn College is one of the few schools with the resources to provide hands-on training in flexography.
Kime was recently named the Student Government Association's "Student of the Month" for October. She has served as president and secretary of Gamma Epsilon Tau, a graphic-arts fraternity, and is active in numerous community events.
