Graphic Communications Student Wins National Contest

James P. Lentz, associate professor of printing and publishing, presents the award from the Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute to Megan L. Kime.Megan L. Kime, a graphic communications management student at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was awarded first place recently for her production of a flexographically printed pressure-sensitive label.

Kime, Gardners, is a junior in the bachelor-degree major. The award was presented by the Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute, a trade association representing the flexographic printing field in North America.

Kime's entry was judged for its creative design and technical skill in production. Flexography is the fastest-growing printing process and has applications in Megan L. Kime's award-winning label designpackaging and pressure-sensitive labels.

Penn College is one of the few schools with the resources to provide hands-on training in flexography.

Kime was recently named the Student Government Association's "Student of the Month" for October. She has served as president and secretary of Gamma Epsilon Tau, a graphic-arts fraternity, and is active in numerous community events.
