Truck Dealership's Support Helps Diesel Technology Students

An International Truck dealership is helping diesel students at Pennsylvania College of Technology keep pace with the latest technology.
Five Star International LLC recently provided Penn College with a 2003 International 4300 truck under a free lease agreement that will have the company cycling in a newer model on a periodic basis as truck electronics systems advance.
The vehicles will allow students in the college's diesel technology associate-degree majors to remain current with progressive electronics programming and other technology.
"The assistance provided by Five Star International in assuring current truck electronic systems are available is a valuable contribution to our students' education and training," said Wayne R. Longbrake, dean of natural resources management at Penn College. "It is a very sensible approach that will serve the program, students and industry well in the future."
Five Star International also provided technical software and access to the International online service manual, and the company will provide training to the college's diesel technology faculty.
Five Star International operates facilities in Harrisburg, Erie, the Lehigh Valley, Reading and York. The company will open a facility in Lancaster in 2006.
Fred Scheler, president of Five Star International, and John Harris, the company's director of service, recently visited Penn College's Schneebeli Earth Science Center near Allenwood.
Accompanying Scheler and Harris were International Truck District Customer Service Engineer Leo Ryan and several other Five Star International employees, including service managers Kirk Cunningham, Scott Varner, Don Little and Dave Greenly; body shop manager Bob Harris; and Brad J. Stump, a 1992 diesel technology graduate from Penn College who is helping to train college faculty on the new systems.
