SIS Fastest − and Most Secure − Way to View Student Grades
Tuesday, October 11, 2005
In an effort to provide a more secure environment for distributing grades, the Registrar's Office is initiating a service that allows Pennsylvania College of Technology students to use the Student Information System to select how they wish to receive midterm and final grades.
In the past, students received notification of midterm and final grades two ways: electronically, through the password-secured SIS grade-view option, and by mail to their permanent addresses. Because the Registrar's Office recognizes the sensitive nature of grade information, grades no longer will be mailed unless students choose that option via the SIS Midterm and final grades will remain available through the system's password-protected grade-view option.
The Registrar's Office recognizes that many students − especially those who only have computer access when on campus − will want to have midterm and final grades mailed to their permanent addresses. Students who wish to do so should log into the SIS, select "Change Student Preferences" and check the boxes to request that midterm and final grades also be mailed.
The SIS offers the fastest and most secure way to view grades, and many students already use this resource to avoid waiting for grades to be mailed. Students who still wish to receive grades by mail, however, should not hesitate to request that option on the SIS.
Questions regarding grade notification should be directed to the Registrar's Office (SASC, Room 1020) or by phone at (570) 327-4772.
