The Gallery at Penn College to Host Artwork of Linda Mylin Ross
Monday, October 3, 2005
The Gallery at Penn College on the main campus of Pennsylvania College of Technology will host "Contemporary Landscapes," a collection of works in charcoal by Linda Mylin Ross, from Oct. 4-30.
An opening reception will take place Tuesday, Oct. 4, from 3:30 to 6 p.m., with an artist's talk scheduled at 4 p.m. in Penn's Inn on the second floor of the Bush Campus Center. Both the opening and the talk are free and open to the public.
After the opening, viewing hours for the show will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 6 p.m., or by appointment. The Gallery will host additional viewing hours on Oct. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m., in conjunction with Williamsport's First Friday event, and on Oct. 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., for the college's Fall Visitation Day. The Gallery at Penn College is in Room 202 of the Campus Center.
Rather than allowing her chosen medium, charcoal, to offer a subdued vision of the landscapes she depicts, Ross attempts to portray her concern with environmental issues within the black-and-white images.
Ross is an assistant professor of education and humanities at Penn State Harrisburg, where she has taught art education, studio and art history courses since 1983. She holds a master of fine arts degree from Maryland Institute College of Art, a master's degree from Penn State Harrisburg and a bachelor's degree from Millersville University. Her work has been displayed in galleries across the state, and her drawings and paintings have been selected for state exhibits.
