Wednesday, August 31, 2005
Edgar A. Hollingsworth, associate professor of machine tool technology/automated manufacturing at Pennsylvania College of Technology, participated in a training conference recently in Canada.
The conference, held at the University of Laval in Quebec, was hosted by the College-Industry Council on Material Handling Education. The council is sponsored by Material Handling Industry of America and provides information, teaching materials and events to support material-handling education and research.
The international event was designed to provide training to college professors on the current state of the art in materials handling and supply-chain management. It featured presentations by senior faculty from major academic institutions and industrial-equipment manufacturers worldwide.
While there, Hollingsworth toured Prevost Car Inc., a company that makes luxury tour buses and motor homes in a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant and sells them throughout North America. Hollingsworth also learned about computer simulations designed by the University of Laval to help students learn about supply chain and materials handling.
Hollingsworth earned a master's degree from the University of Tennessee and a bachelor's degree from The Pennsylvania State University.
