Welding Student Wins 'Class Gift' Prize; Legacy Donations Still Being Accepted
Friday, May 6, 2005
Congratulations to Derek A. Weeks, a senior in the welding and fabrication engineering technology major from Floyd, Va., whose name was drawn as the winner for the Class of 2005 Gift to Penn College drawing.
Hewins his choice of a $50 gift certificate or a diploma frame (valued atapproximately $52) from The College Store.
Donations to the Class of 2005 Gift to Penn College still are being accepted, and all students who are graduating this May, August or December are asked to consider donating at least $1 to the Class Gift. Donations are being accepted in the Institutional Advancement Office (LEC, RoomA229 − in the Executive Offices, near the drafting labs). Donors also can make a gift using Wildcat Plus at one of the cash registers in the Susquehanna Room orby credit card online .
The Class Gift committee − Lauren Schuman, Devin Courtney and Devin Gebhart − have so far raised $125, with all the money collected to be donated to the Madigan Library Campaign. The eventual goal is to raise at least $250 to have a "legacy" − that is, the name "Class of 2005" − placed in the new Madigan Library. Gifts made by Class of 2005 students after graduation can be designated to be used toward that goal.
Special thanks go out to The College Store for donating the prize for this drawing, to all of the students and employees who already have donated to the Class of 2005 Gift to Penn College, and to the Class Gift committee for its efforts to benefit future students at Penn College.
