The Practical Nursing program at Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro will host an open house Thursday, April 28, for those interested in pursuing a career in nursing. The 5-to-7-p.m. event will feature tours of the campus (located just east of Wellsboro on Route 6), opportunities to speak with administration and faculty, as well as information about the application process, tuition and financial aid. Information about for-credit nursing programs of study offered at Penn College's main campus in Williamsport also will be available.
The North Campus Practical Nursing program was developed for learners of all ages who want to improve their employment outlook in the health-care field. The noncredit, vocational program is offered through Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Penn College. Students attend classes at the North Campus and have clinical experiences at Laurel Health System facilities.
Excellent career opportunities exist in area hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, personal-care facilities and human-service organizations. The campus is accepting applications for the next class, which is scheduled to begin Jan. 2, 2006.
The North Campus program is approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. Students who successfully complete the program will be prepared to take the National Council Licensure Exam for licensure as an LPN. Advance-placement credits earned upon passing the exam may be applied toward the nursing degrees offered at Penn College's main campus.
