Daniel R. Little Named February's 'Student of the Month'

Daniel R. Little, scheduled to graduate in May with dual Information Technology bachelor's degrees in networking and programming, has been selected by the Student Government Association as February's "Student of the Month" at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
Little (from Beacon Falls, Conn.) received multiple nominations in a crowded field of worthy nominees this month, and supporters' comments reflected his equally jam-packed resume as student leader, mentor, Resident Assistant and part-time Web-design assistant in the Office of College Information and Community Relations.
In that latter capacity, he has played a key role in developing Penn College' s Visitation Day online-registration and activity-request systems, the e-Classified listings on PCToday, and other Web initiatives. He also has heightened the interactivity of the College's Web site, making it more attractive to prospective students.
Little also serves as a student representative on the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce College Town Committee, actively improving and enhancing relations between college students and downtown merchants.
"He is poised in presentations to business leaders, and he stands out as a leader among his peers," one of his nominators wrote. "Dan recently was told by ( Williamsport ) City Councilman Mike Wiley also a member of the College Town Committee that his excellent leadership skills will serve him well in the future."
A faculty member characterized Little as an unhesitant leader, "a conscientious and dedicated student (whose) work is always complete, neatly prepared and shows careful thought and insight." And a co-worker applauded his kind-hearted support for fellow students, often tutoring them in his scant spare time between classes and work.
SGA regularly selects a "Student of the Month" based on commitment, service, role-model behavior, academics, leadership and campus involvement. Anyone wishing to suggest a deserving student should watch PCToday for information on nominations.
