A second-year Landscape/Nursery Technology student at Pennsylvania College of Technology has been awarded a scholarship from the Pennsylvania Landscape and Nursery Association Foundation for academic excellence in horticulture.
Ryan K. Allar of Donaldson was presented with the $1,000 check at the PLNA Conference held Feb. 8-10 in State College. The award will be featured in the May/June issue of Pennsylvania Landscape and Nursery magazine (the association's flagship publication) and Allar will receive a complimentary PLNA student membership for the next year.
"We're very pleased that Ryan has been awarded this scholarship. He is deserving of this honor, having shown a strong commitment to his studies and to the horticulture profession that will serve him well after graduation," said Dr. Mary A. Sullivan, assistant dean of natural resources management. "He is certainly a fine ambassador to our program."
The 2002 graduate of Pine Grove Area High School is president of Penn College's Horticulture Technicians Association, a student chapter of the Associated Landscape Contractors of America.
