The Gallery at Penn College on the main campus of Pennsylvania College of Technology will host "The Earthly and the Ethereal," a collection of artwork by Mark J. Mahosky, from Jan. 18 to Feb. 11.
An opening reception will take place from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, with an artist?s talk scheduled at 4 p.m. Both the opening and the talk are free and open to the public.
After the opening, viewing hours for the show will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 6 p.m., or by appointment. The Gallery will host additional viewing hours Feb. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m., in conjunction with the city's First Friday event. The Gallery at Penn College is in Room 202 of the Bush Campus Center.
Mahosky is an assistant professor of fine arts at Kutztown University. He earned a master-of-fine-arts degree in painting from Stanford University and a bachelor-of-fine-arts degree from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University.
His work has been exhibited in galleries across Pennsylvania and in New York City; Houston; Portland, Ore.; and Paris.
Mahosky works extensively with high-school art programs around the state. He founded and directs the Mifflinburg Art Center, which provides art education for all ages in a three-county area of central Pennsylvania, and has taught art and drawing courses at the federal penitentiary in Allenwood.
