Professor Among Presenters at Woodwork Institute Conference
Tuesday, November 30, 2004
William F. Geyer, an assistant professor of building construction technology in the School of Construction and Design Technologies at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was among the presenters at the 52nd annual meeting and convention of the Architectural Woodwork Institute.
Geyer presented a program on "Developing Educational Partnerships" at last month's conference, which was held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, Tenn.
The presentation spotlighted AWI's innovative "Adopt a Shop" initiative, which allows woodworking professionals to share their experience, skills and materials with wood-shop programs in their local high schools.
Formerly a partner in a residential-construction and cabinetmaking firm, Geyer has been a member of the Penn College faculty since 1993. He became involved with AWI in the '90s, has served on its Education Planning Committee and Career Resources Task Force, and currently sits on the group's Development Council.
Geyer maintains a small business as a cabinetmaker, wood turner and furniture builder.
