Wildcat Golfers Extend Streak With Victory at Home

On Friday, Sept. 24, Penn College hosted an Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate ConferenceInvitational Tournament at White Deer Golf Course in Allenwood.Penn College extended its win steak to 55, with 10 wins this year. The medalist for the tournament was Brandon Smith (Wellsboro), who shot a one-over-par 73. He was followed by Tony Stopper (Jersey Shore), who shot 74; and Shaun McQuay (Watsontown), at 75. Penn Collegefielded four of the five top golfers for the day. The fourth-best score was a 79 by Mike Wills from Luzerne. The fifth-best scores was shot by Gilbert Balliet (Watsontown) and Jeff Kerr at 80. The remaining Penn College golfer was Chris Herb, with an 83. Team scoring for the day was Penn College, 302; Northampton County Community College, 340; Luzerne County Community College, 343; Johnson College, 420; and Penn State Schuylkill, 431. Penn State Wilkes Barre did not qualify. Penn College travels to Mountain Valley on Tuesday for the final match prior to Eastern Regionals on Oct. 4.
