Wendy Mertzeis Chosen as September's 'Student of the Month'
Thursday, September 23, 2004
Wendy Mertzeis, a junior from Tionesta, Forest County, has been chosen as the Student Government Association's "Student of the Month" for September.
Enrolled in Office Information Technology-Web Design, she is a respected Resident Assistant in Penn College's Rose Street Apartments and member of the Residence Hall Association. She also serves as program coordinator for the Wildcat Events Board.
A mentor, friend and activity leader for staff and residents alike, she is a well-known face at College events and a reliable volunteer whatever the task.
"Wendy has shown great strength (as an RA)," her nominator wrote. "She jumped into the position this fall and ran with it. Wendy was challenged . . . when she had three programs to prepare in three days. She ran them without issue and had the greatest attendance at one . . . than any other RA has achieved. (She) also had several resident issues in the first few weeks and dealt with them like she had been an RA for years."
Mertzeis was selected by the Student Government Association based on her commitment, service, role-model behavior, academics, leadership and campus involvement.
