Pennsylvania College of Technology has its own high-power amateur or "ham" radio hidden within the ATHS.
Amateur radio is a hobby that explores communications technologies.Radio amateurs or "hams" use radio in a variety of ways, such as communicating with people around the world, controlling robots, sending TV signals and even bouncing signals off the moon, meteors and the northern lights.
On Tuesday, Aug. 31, the Wildcat Amateur Radio Club will sponsor a presentation by Thomas E.Ask, assistant professor of HVAC technology/mechanical refrigeration, on the use of the moon as a radio reflector.
The presentation will be offered at 3:30 p.m. in ATHS, Room E124.A tour of the radio station also will be provided.All faculty, staff and students are welcome.
