Thursday, August 19, 2004
A $1,000 scholarship from the Aircraft Electronics Association Educational Foundation has been awarded to Kyle E. Laughman of York, enrolled in Pennsylvania College of Technology's bachelor-degree major in Aviation Maintenance Technology.
Laughman was chosen to receive the David Arver Memorial Scholarship from the AEA. He is one of 22 students awarded a portion of more than $70,000 in 2004-05 scholarships.
The fund was established by Dutch and Ginger Arver in memory of their son, David. Dutch Arver has been a strong supporter of the AEA for many years and served on its Board of Directors until his retirement.
The scholarship is available to high school seniors and/or college students who plan to attend (or are attending) an accredited school in an avionics or aircraft-repair program.
The Aircraft Electronics Association Educational Foundation was founded in 1990 "to enhance, promote and secure the future of aviation and the AEA by furthering the education of students, technicians, members of the AEA and others as determined by aviation industry needs." It has awarded $850,000 to students seeking careers in the aircraft-electronics and aviation-maintenance industries.
