The Keystone Kiln-Drying Association, a professional organization made up of kiln operators, mill owners and tradespeople who have an interest in the lumber-drying industry, will offer a $500 scholarship this fall to a Pennsylvania College of Technology student.
The scholarship will be given to a student who demonstrates financial need and academic quality. Preference will be given to students who are enrolled full time in the Forest Technology major and have an interest in the kiln-drying industry.
The Keystone Kiln-Drying Association supports the hiring of Penn College graduates by its members and affiliates.
"We at the Kiln-Drying Association are looking forward to this partnership with Penn College in assisting students with their college education," said Richard Rogers, second vice president of the Keystone Kiln-Drying Association. "It is through giving that we will receive immeasurable returns by helping others achieve success. We thank the Pennsylvania College of Technology Foundation for this opportunity to help strengthen our industry."
The scholarship will be available to defray tuition, fees, books, tools, housing and required instructional supply costs. The annual award typically will be given in the fall semester, but it may be split between the fall and spring semesters.
Students may submit an application for this award, including a letter declaring their interest in the kiln-drying industry, to the Financial Aid Office at Penn College. The director of financial aid will determine final selection of the award recipient.
