Students considering enrolling at Pennsylvania College of Technology, as well as their families and friends, can tour the campus and learn more about academic programs, housing options, campus life and paying for college on Sunday, March 21, at Spring Visitation Day 2004.
Activities and information sessions at Penn College a special mission affiliate of Penn State, committed to applied technology education will be offered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with some Early Bird Sessions starting at 9 a.m.
The main campus is located just off the Maynard Street exit of Interstate 180 in Williamsport. Other College sites also will be open for the event, including the Advanced Automotive Technology Center, 3341 Wahoo Drive, Williamsport; the Lumley Aviation Center at the Williamsport Regional Airport in Montoursville; and the Schneebeli Earth Science Center, 203 Allenwood Camp Lane, Montgomery.
Free shuttle rides, available throughout the day, will make it easy to navigate the main campus from parking lots to major facilities. Free bus service to the Earth Science Center and the Aviation Center will depart from the main campus on the hour. Return buses will leave the Earth Science Center and Aviation Center on the half-hour.
General Information Sessions on admissions, financial aid and academics for those planning to enroll this fall will be held at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., noon and 1:30 p.m. in the Field House.
General Information Sessions for those interested in enrolling in 2005 or later will be offered at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at Penn?s Inn in the Bush Campus Center.
Tours with a Student Ambassador will follow immediately after each of the information sessions.
For students who are undecided about a career choice, sessions for "Choosing a Major" will be offered by Counseling and Career Services at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at Penn's Inn.
Information about on- and off-campus housing options will be provided in Student Housing Sessions to be offered on the hour from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Presentation Room on the first floor of the Student and Administrative Services Center.
An Off-Campus Housing Expo in the Student and Administrative Services Center will give students and parents an opportunity to meet and interact with participating local landlords. Tours of the four on-campus student-housing facilities The Village at Penn College, Campus View Apartments, College West and Rose Street Apartments will be available throughout the event.
At various locations, prospective students can meet with faculty and administrators from Penn College's eight academic schools to learn more about academic majors representing more than 100 career fields. They will also be able to interact with current students and learn more about student organizations and campus life at the College.
The College Library, located in the Learning Resources Center, will offer tours, as well as displays depicting the history of course study at Penn College through yearbooks, photos, college publications and more.
Graduates of Penn College, Williamsport Area Community College and Williamsport Technical Institute are encouraged to stop by the College Library to register with Alumni Relations.
Disability Services will offer information sessions from 11 a.m. to noon and 1 to 2 p.m. in Room 201 of the Campus Center.
At the Earth Science Center, a Heavy Equipment Rodeo will pit Penn College students against competitors from various schools in the Northeast, and the College's Woodsman Team will practice for the Mid-Atlantic Woodsman Team Meet, to be hosted by the College on April 24.
The Children's Learning Center on the first floor of the Campus Center will hold an open house for anyone needing information about enrollment in the center's preschool and kindergarten programs.
A variety of Food Services facilities will be open to the public, including the Bistro in the Campus Center, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; the Cafe on the Mall, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; the CoffeeHouse in the Campus Center, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; the Susquehanna Room dining hall in the Hager Lifelong Education Center, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Nature's Cove at the Earth Science Center, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Penn Central in the Lifelong Education Center, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Wildcat Express convenience store in the Campus Center, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Information on meal plans and the Wildcat Plus plan will be available in the Susquehanna Room during the event.
The College's fine-dining restaurant, Le Jeune Chef, will offer an a la carte breakfast/brunch from 9:30 to 1:30 p.m. and a brunch buffet from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Reservations are required: call (570) 327-4776.
Chef Paul Mach and Tom Speicher, co-hosts for ''You're the Chef'," Penn College's award-winning cooking series on public television, will be on hand from noon to 12:45 p.m. and 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. in Room B132 of the Lifelong Education Center for cooking demonstrations.
The College Store, located on the first floor of the Campus Center, will be open throughout Spring Visitation Day.
