The Pennsylvania College of Technology Wildcat Dance Team recently completed its first season under the direction of adviser Kristi Hammaker.
Comprised of 13 women and two men, the team performed high-energy jazz/hip-hop routines during timeouts and halftime intermissions at home basketball games. The team also performed at various campus functions throughout the school year, including Fall Visitation, the Spring Break Kickoff Party and the International Bazaar.
"This year, we really took the program to a new level. We finally have team uniforms and plan to compete at dance competitions in the future. The team has an incredible energy level. It's been a lot of fun," Hammaker said. She also supervises the college's Fitness Center, where the team practices five days a week.
"The team does daily flexibility and conditioning exercises, as well as develops and learns new choreography. Milissa Augustine, a Williamsport choreographer and dance instructor, has also created numerous routines for the team," Hammaker said.
Members of the team included Tiffany Crowe (Williamsport), Alicia Betz (Watsontown), Stephanie Shadeck (Clearfield), Julie Schweitzer (Bloomsburg), Amanda Cropf (Danville), Cessi Romano (Danville), Kristie Boyd (Allentown), Rebekah Foust (State College), Michelle LaCoille (State College), Elyse Crain (State College), Veronica Uber (State College), Etienne Seydoux (Philadelphia), Mike Troelsch (Hempfield), Stefanie Beskovoyne (Wallenpaupack), Heather Travelet (Landisville).
The Wildcat Dance Team will resume its season in August, with tryouts scheduled during the second week of classes. Any full-time student at Penn College may try out for the team.
