Professor Elected Officer, Vice Chair for Newly Formed Society
Monday, April 22, 2002
Dr. Reza Kamali, associate professor of computer science in the School of Business and Computer Technologies at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has been elected as an officer and vice chair for education for the newly formed Society for Information Technology Education.
Kamali, a resident of Montoursville, received the honor at a SITE conference in Savannah, Ga., on April 11-13.
Kamali was also recognized for his conference presentation and his efforts as chairman of the curriculum and accreditation committee formed last fall at an exclusive, invitation-only information-technology conference hosted by Brigham Young University. The committee was assigned the task of proposing a new higher-education curriculum concept to meet the needs of the rapidly evolving information-technology field.
A colleague of Kamali's at Penn College, Dr. Jacob R. Miller, associate professor of computer science, also contributed to curriculum-proposal efforts.
As vice chair for education, Kamali is responsible for coordinating education services, including model curriculum development and accreditation. Specifically, his committee is charged with revising and refining the information-technology curriculum concept into a national curriculum and accreditation proposal by September.
