Penn College Competitors Win Several Events at Woodsmen's Meet

Forest Technology students from Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Natural Resources Management finished fourth overall and took first place in several competitions at the Mid Atlantic States Intercollegiate Woodsmen's Meet held recently in North Carolina.
In the meet, which was hosted April 13 by Haywood Community College, Clyde, N.C., the Penn College competitors took first place in the pulpwood toss for accuracy, ax throw and bolt split events, as well as third place in the ax throw.
In the pulpwood toss for accuracy, Penn College's first-place team consisted of Beth A. Partsch, Williamsport; Philip D. Cornish, Coudersport; Timothy J. Kline Sr., Avis; Bryan R. Ross, Sunbury; Nicholas T. Nebzydoski, Pleasant Mount; and Timothy S. Sherry, St. Marys. Kline captured an individual first place in the ax throw, and Partsch registered a win in the bolt-split event. Partsch also took third place in the ax throw.
Penn College finished behind Penn State Mont Alto, Haywood Community College and Montgomery Community College (Troy, N.C.) in the overall competition.
Other Penn College students competing were: Jeffrey P. Chismar, Martinsburg; Joseph A. Cicchiello, Mount Carmel; Jason S. Cotton, Elizabethtown; Douglas A. Freeman, Gillett; Mark L. Hockley, Carlisle; Gerald L. Hoy, Port Matilda; and Mark J. Schall, Apollo. The students were accompanied by Dr. Dennis F. Ringling, professor of forestry; and Richard W. Rankinen, associate professor of forestry.
