Explore Health-Care Career Options at Hospital Open House

Pennsylvania College of Technology and Evangelical Community Hospital are joining forces to offer an open house in Lewisburg on April 30 for anyone wishing to explore a career in health-care occupations.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. at the JPM Corporate Training Center, 155 N. 15th St., Lewisburg. No registration is required.

"Penn College's School of Health Sciences is very pleased to be associated with Evangelical Community Hospital to help provide health-care workers for this region," said Dr. Deborah A. Wilson, dean of health sciences at the College. "Documentation shows that shortages of health-care workers exist throughout the nation. The College and the Hospital recognize the current and future needs for workers and are taking a proactive approach. This event is only one example of how we have used our relationship to ensure that health care and practical, applicable educational opportunities are available to the region."

Representatives from the College will be available to discuss issues related to admission, financial aid, tuition assistance, related course work and transfer credits (individuals who have earned college credits in the past are asked to bring their transcripts for review). In addition, representatives from the College's Technology Transfer Center will be on hand to provide information about noncredit training opportunities.

Information about the following heath-care career fields will be available from representatives of the School of Health Sciences at Penn College: Applied Health Studies/Health Arts, Dental Hygiene, Dietary Manager, Health Information Technology (medical records), Human Services, Nursing (Practical, associate degree and RN to BSN), Nursing/Health Care Paralegal, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Office Technology-Medical Emphasis, Paramedic (EMT-paramedic), Physical Fitness Specialist, Physician Assistant, and Radiography/Sonography.
