Tuesday, May 15, 2001
A nursing scholarship and commencement award have been established that will memorialize a former director of nursing at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
The Linda F. Clark BS, RN Memorial Nursing Commencement and Scholarship Fund is being established by Dr. William B. Urosevich, associate professor of biology (anatomy/physiology) at Penn College.
The annual scholarship and commencement award memorialize the late Linda Clark and honor David B. Clark, her husband, an associate professor of chemistry at the College. Dr. Urosevich and his wife, Patricia, wanted to pay tribute to Linda Clark, who had touched their lives.
In addition to serving as director of nursing at Penn College, Linda Clark had been a charge nurse at Johns Hopkins Medical Center, Baltimore. She received her bachelor's degree from Neumann College, Aston, and did graduate work at Bloomsburg University.
"I have seen the results of her time with the Williamsport Area Community College/Penn College nursing program, and it is obvious she cared very much about nursing and nursing students," said Deborah A. Wilson, dean of the School of Health Sciences at Penn College. "We are very pleased to be able to help our nursing students with a scholarship that honors Mrs. Clark."
Distribution of the annual scholarship and award will begin in May 2002.
To receive the scholarship, a student must be enrolled in a nursing program at Penn College, maintain a minimum grade-point average and demonstrate financial need. Criteria for the commencement award will be established later.
