Students pondering which college to attend can tour Pennsylvania College of Technology on "Fall Visitation Day," Sunday, Oct. 22, to learn more about the applied-technology majors offered in 100 career fields by The Pennsylvania State University affiliate.
Tours, exhibits and information sessions will be offered from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., giving prospective students and their families a chance to explore career opportunities, speak with representatives of the eight academic schools and tour the main campus.
In addition, shuttle buses will leave on the hour from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to transport visitors to three other Penn College campuses: the Advanced Automotive Technology Center on Wahoo Drive, the Lumley Aviation Center at the Williamsport Regional Airport and the Schneebeli Earth Science Center near Allenwood.
For those needing help choosing a career or college major, "Discover" sessions will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. and 2 to 3:30 p.m. in Room 211 of the Bush Campus Center, and "Careers of the 21st Century" sessions will be offered from noon to 1 p.m. and 2 to 3 p.m. in Room 205 of the Campus Center.
For those who want help preparing for entrance exams, sample college-placement tests will be offered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in various rooms at the Klump Academic Center.
For students planning to enroll for the fall of 2001, information sessions will be held on the hour from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Klump Academic Center Auditorium. For students planning to attend college beginning in the fall of 2002 or later, sessions will be held on the half hour from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Bush Campus Center. Student-led campus tours will begin at the close of each session.
Tours of the academic schools − Business and Computer Technologies, Construction and Design Technologies, Health Sciences, Hospitality, Industrial and Engineering Technologies, Integrated Studies, Natural Resources Management and Transportation Technology − will be ongoing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Information sessions for on-campus housing will begin every half hour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Thompson Professional Development Center. Students can learn about student activities and organizations at a Student Involvement Fair being held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the lobby of the Bush Campus Center. Information on Penn College athletics also will be available from noon to 3 p.m. in the Campus Center.
Other highlights include used textbook giveaways in the Campus Center, art exhibits, a live radio broadcast by campus radio station WPTC (88.1 FM), hands-on Internet/Math activities in the Breuder Advanced Technology and Health Sciences Center and tours of The Children's Learning Center.
Counseling and Career Services will offer a Co-Op Fair from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Room 201 of the Bush Campus Center. New Choices/New Options Career Development and Funding Assistance sessions will be offered from 11 to 11:30 a.m. and 2 to 2:30 p.m. in Room 204 of the Campus Center.
Le Jeune Chef Restaurant, which offers a practical-laboratory experience for students in the School of Hospitality, will be open for brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Reservations are required. Call (570) 320-CHEF.
