Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., Inc. of Torrance, Calif., recently donated a 2000 Corolla sedan and a 2000 Sienna minivan to Pennsylvania College of Technology.
The Corolla, valued at $14,363, and the Sienna, valued at $22,628, will be used for instructional purposes only.
Penn College has been part of the Toyota Technical Education Network since 1991 and offers an associate-degree program in Automotive Technology/Toyota Emphasis.
Presenting the vehicles for Toyota was Randall Preece, area manager for Toyota T-TEN. Accepting for the College was Colin W. Williamson, dean of the school of Transportation Technology.
"The Corolla will be used in our first-year engine electrical course, since the car has Toyota's latest innovations in valve-train electronic controls," Williamson said. "The Sienna is a shipment-damaged vehicle that will be used in our Toyota T-TEN collision-repair program, and the repair parts and expenses will be provided by Toyota. Once the vehicle is completed, it will be eligible for re-donation to a worthy secondary automotive program."
