Vicki K. Killian, a food service manager for Pennsylvania College of Technology, is one of just two candidates chosen from her region to attend a National Association of College and University Food Services management institute.
Killian will attend NACUFS' Food Service Management Institute this June in Buffalo, NY, representing a region that includes Pennsylvania, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia and West Virginia. To be chosen, Killian had to submit an essay, a letter of support from her employer and two letters of reference.
At the Institute, Killian will undergo 5 1/2 days of intensive training in essential areas of college food service, including production and service; sanitation; marketing and merchandising; and budgets and financial responsibility.
She will be part of a team − led by an experienced coach/mentor − that will create a virtual food-service operation using team meetings, hands-on activities and group discussions.
Founded in 1958, NACUFS is a trade association for food-service professionals at more than 650 higher-education institutions in the United States, Canada and elsewhere.
