Penn College Teleconference Explores How to Customize Online Courses
Friday, March 24, 2000
"How to Customize an Online Course" is the topic of a live PBS Adult Learning Service Teleconference set for Thursday, April 6, at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
The teleconference will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the Tiadaghton Room at the Thompson Professional Development Center.
More and more colleges are choosing to license online courses from other institutions to save time and money, but faculty still want to customize such courses to meet institutional objectives and add a personal touch.
Topics to be covered in the teleconference include:
- What major challenges do faculty encounter when teaching online courses they did not create?
- What criteria are useful for evaluating online courses and deciding how to adapt them?
- How can you supplement and personalize an online course that already is robust?
- Why is creating community among students in online courses important, and what are some ways it can be achieved?
The teleconference is free and open to the public, but please call (570) 326-3761, ext. 7647, to register.
