Ford Motor Co. recently donated four vehicles valued at $109,976 to Pennsylvania College of Technology.
The vehicles, which will be used by the School of Transportation Technology for instructional purposes, are a Lincoln Continental, valued at $39,575; a Lincoln Town Car Signature, valued at $31,550; a Lincoln LS, valued at $27,001; and a Ford Escort, valued at $11,850.
The vehicles were presented to Colin W. Williamson, dean of the School of Transportation Technology, by David Dodds, Ford Motor Co.'s Technical Training Delivery Team leader.
The College, which is an official Ford satellite training center, has been receiving donations of components and vehicles from the automaker since 1968.
Williamson explained the educational benefits that will be provided by the company's latest gift.
"The donation of the late-model vehicles allows us to teach the latest technology found on today's vehicles, enabling both our students and prospective employers access to the best possible teaching environment," he said.
Penn College became a Ford ASSET program partner in 1996, allowing students in the Automotive Technology/Ford ASSET major to alternate between classroom/shop activities on campus and work at a sponsoring Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealership. The two-year program leads to an associate of applied science degree.
