The School of Business and Computer Technologies at Pennsylvania College of Technology recently bestowed honors upon two faculty members.
Phillip D. Landers, professor of business administration, received the 1999 "Distinctive Teaching Award," which is intended to recognize the "best teacher" in the school.
Factors considered for the award include classroom teaching, student advising, cooperation and support of other faculty members and subject matter. The recipient must be an individual whom students seek out, and other faculty members recommend, for his or her classroom excellence.
Ray F. Tyler, associate professor of business administration, received the 1999 "Distinctive Service and Professionalism Award," which is intended to recognize an individual who has provided significant service to Penn College and/or the community.
Examples include work with College governance and special groups or committees, or with civic organizations in the community. Factors considered for the professionalism aspect of the award include significant efforts to improve academic expertise through course work, additional degrees, presentations, papers, articles and conferences. Winners must demonstrate significant achievement in service or professionalism or a general level of excellence in both.
