Penn College Students Take Home Gold at Regional Vocational Competition

All eight students from Pennsylvania College of Technology who participated in the recent SkillsUSA-VICA District 6 competition came away with gold medals for their first-place finishes.
The eight winners from Penn College will move on to the state SkillsUSA-VICA competition, which will be held April 12-14 in Lancaster.
SkillsUSA-VICA is a national organization serving high school and college instructors and students enrolled in training programs in technical, skilled and service occupations.
The District 6 competition was held Tuesday, Feb. 1, at the Schuylkill Career and Technology Centers. The Penn College winners and the categories in which they competed are:
Ryan Bingaman, technical drafting, McVeytown; David R. Hale, carpentry; Jersey Shore; Joshua L. Halin, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration, Butler; Andrea M. High, commercial baking, Annville; Peter J. Hoffman, precision machining technology, Kutztown; Kristofer S. Kurzweg, automotive service technology, Fleetwood; Adam E. Van Steenberg, masonry; Brookville; and James White Jr., architectural drafting, Lock Haven.
SkillsUSA-VICA has more than 240,000 student members, organized into nearly 13,000 chapters and 53 state and territorial associations. More than 13,000 teachers and school administrators serve as professional SkillsUSA-VICA members and instructors.
